Raw content for Switzerland's private media

Since the beginning of 2025, SRG has been providing Swiss private media companies with raw audiovisual content. The aim is to strengthen Switzerland's media landscape and to cement cooperation between SRG and private media companies.

Under the amendment to Article 31 of the SRG licence, effective from 1 January 2025, SRG undertakes to supply private Swiss media companies with daily content without editorial input from SRG. The media companies are free to process this raw content as they wish. The new offering allows private media companies to use the material flexibly for their online reporting.

The raw content is made available via a new API, which replaces SRG's previous shared content platform. To access the API, registration is necessary.

The Declaration of the Swiss Press Council still applies

As before, private media firms are required to recognise and uphold integrity and values, as set out for journalists in the Declaration of the Duties and Rights of the Journalist. This Declaration will continue to form the basis of a trusted and constructive collaboration between SRG and Switzerland's private media companies going forward.
