Diversity
SRG is guided by its mandate and self-declared purpose to reach out to everyone in Switzerland. We give a face to Switzerland's diversity. Because diversity is what public service broadcasting is all about.
Linguistic diversity
Switzerland's multilingualism is valued at home and abroad. 62.3% of the population speaks German, 22.8% French, 8% Italian, 0.5% Romansh, and 23.1% other languages. Of these, English is the most widely spoken. We reflect this linguistic diversity in our programming, through equivalent offerings in German, French and Italian, and an appropriate offering in Romansh.
SWI swissinfo.ch is SRG's online service in ten languages, which serves both foreign nationals in Switzerland and people with an interest in Switzerland as well as Swiss citizens all over the world.
Thematic diversity
From politics and business to culture, sport and religion, the topics covered by SRG's programmes are many and varied. A broad network of correspondents in Switzerland and abroad guarantees reliable information on current events worldwide.
Cultural diversity
SRG represents Swiss culture through films and series, society and religion, literature, music, art and theatre. Culture opens doors to other worlds. SRG therefore provides its users with access to culture that promotes understanding of different cultural disciplines.
Social diversity
Swiss society is extremely diverse. Encouraging openness and eliminating prejudice are therefore crucial. This is why we are careful to ensure that we appeal to everyone living in Switzerland, bringing them together despite their different lifestyles and living environments.

SRG is a partner of the CIVIS Media Foundation
How people see each other is strongly shaped by how they are depicted in the media. CIVIS focuses on radio and television, social media, and cinema. These are all places where very different, often contradictory views on migration, integration and cultural diversity are aired.
