The Zurich Film Festival offers a platform to talented film-makers from all over the world. Together with SRF, SRG has been media partner of the event since 2009.

Radio and TV merge in French-speaking Switzerland

A new enterprise unit, Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS), is formed as a result of the merger of Radio Suisse Romande (RSR) and Télévision Suisse Romande (TSR).

Sottens is switched off

After 79 years, Sottens broadcasts to the nation for the last time. Thousands of people attend an open house day in honour of the occasion.

Standardised branding

The brands of the new regional enterprise units are tweaked to reflect ongoing media convergence. At the same, a new strategy is drawn up for marketing across Switzerland, as part of an effort to unify SRG’s overall brand identity. The changes see the tagline ‘idée suisse’ dropped from SRG SSR’s name and logo.

Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur

The famous short film festival takes place in Winterthour every November. As media partner, SRG plays an active role in the film school days and sponsors, inter alia, the award for the Best Swiss School Film as well as the "Grand Prize" within the International Competition.

Roger de Weck

Roger de Weck becomes the eight Director General of SRG, having previously been Editor-in-Chief of the Tages-Anzeiger and Die Zeit. He led the corporation from 2011 to 2017.

Radio and television merge in German-speaking regions

A new enterprise unit is formed in German-speaking Switzerland, as Schweizer Radio DRS (SR DRS) and Schweizer Fernsehen (SF) merge. The new organisation is known as Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen (Swiss Radio and Television), abbreviated to SRF.
