Allianz Cinema Nights (Pro Cinema)

The Allianz Cinema Nights are a popular cinema celebration and take place every September. SRG has been media partner of the event since 2017.

No to abolishing the licence fee

Voters clearly rejected a proposal to abolish the licence fee (known as the ‘No Billag’ initiative), with 71.6% voting against.

Bern radio studio

The SRG Board of Directors decides to move part of the SRF radio studio to Zurich and the newly-created SRF newsroom.

Large-scale public value study

SRG and its enterprise units initiate a national conversation with internal and external stakeholders across Switzerland. The aim of the initiative, known as the Public Value Study, is to ensure that SRG meets the needs of the Swiss population over the long term.

Diversity Board set up

The SRG network for female employees, known as ‘idée femme’, is the prime mover behind the establishment of a Diversity Board. The Board is committed to ensuring equal treatment for all SRG staff.

Building plans approved

The SRG Board of Directors decides to implement plans for campuses in French-speaking Switzerland and the Ticino. Under the plans, a tri-media production centre for radio, TV and multimedia will be built in Lausanne, and open by 2025. The existing RSI facility at Comano will also be upgraded to make it a tri-media production facility.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

Public life in Switzerland is shut down mid-March due to the Coronavirus pandemic. During the lockdown, the SRG channels must adapt their programmes and develop new formats in all areas in the shortest possible time. The information programmes reach peak usage figures in March. SRG continues to support the Swiss film, music and festival industry despite events being cancelled.
