TV advertising introduced
The Federal Council approves the introduction of television advertising. Switzerland’s first TV ad is broadcast on 1 February 1965, and costs the advertiser 6000 Francs per minute.
The Federal Palace studio opens
The radio and TV studio in Bern’s Federal Palace is officially opened.

The Chur programming office is set up
A dedicated programming office for programmes in Romansh is set up in Chur. Romansh programmes are broadcast on German and Romansh broadcaster Schweizer Radio DRS’s second station.

Newscaster Tiziana Mona
In 1967, Tiziano Mona becomes the first woman in Europe to host a flagship news programme, broadcast on Televisione della Svizzera Italiana (TSI).

Colour TV

SRG makes its first official colour TV broadcasts. A range of programmes are now available in colour, especially films. There’s just one little problem: Most Swiss TV viewers are still using black and white sets, and are not yet able to experience the brave new world of colour television for themselves.
