Musigwälle 531 becomes DRS Musigwälle

DRS music station Musigwälle 531 is re-christened DRS Musigwälle, and adds the most significant elements of DRS 1’s factual programming to its broad range of traditional music.

The birth of Schweizer Fernsehen (SF)

Schweizer Fernsehen DRS is renamed Schweizer Fernsehen (SF).

The View from the Glacier

DRS 1, La Première, Rete Uno and Radio Rumantsch spend the summer broadcasting live from Europe’s highest radio studio, on the slopes of the Jungfraujoch. The programmes are part of an inter-regional season of programmes, broadcast throughout the summer and known in Switzerland’s linguistic regions as ‘Gletscherblick’, ‘Sur nos monts quand les glaciers’ and ‘Rompiamo il ghiaccio’ respectively. A suitable English title might be ‘The View from the Glacier’.

75th anniversary

SRG SSR idée suisse celebrates its 75th birthday on 24 February.

The Federal Palace Media Centre

The new Media Centre at the Federal Palace is officially opened by President of the Swiss Confederation Moritz Leuenberger.

Mx3 founded

The stations DRS 3, Couleur 3, Rete Tre, Virus and Radio Rumantsch join forces to create music platform Mx3. The new platform gives artists the opportunity to broadcast their music free of charge over the internet to a wide audience.

A new legal framework

The new Radio and Television Act (RTA) and Radio and Television Ordinance (RTVO) come into force on 1 April. The new framework brings a number of changes, including fee splitting (meaning that a percentage of licence fee revenue is allocated to private radio and television stations); a legal duty to ensure that all television programming is accessible to viewers with disabilities (including by providing subtitles, sign language and audio description), and online advertising and sponsorship.
