Emergency studio

Uninterrupted broadcasting and transmission is of vital importance to SRG SSR. Our highly specialised infrastructure provides the technical backbone for this. The individual regions have a range of emergency measures in place to ensure broadcasting and transmission continuity should a single component break down. Radio production is spread out across several sites, and can thus generally be assured. TV production is a different matter, having been centralised within the regions for cost reasons.

Should the production infrastructure of individual Enterprise Units fail completely, the Studio House of Parliament can be used as an emergency studio. The facilities allow feature and documentary films to be programmed or entire original productions to be made. The programming directors of all the regional TV stations attend an annual emergency drill at the national playout centre in Zurich. The programming unit archive is updated regularly.
